A sneak peak at the Triennale Gardens

A sneak peak at the Triennale Gardens

Kartell plays with the concept of “out-of-scale” in a surreal outdoor setup at the Triennale in April 2008: seven “totems,” sculptures/gigantic hedges in boxes up to 4 metres high to represent the most iconic “Kartell Outdoor” products (like Bubble Club, La Bohème, Mr Impossible) in a striking play of volumes, lights and forms.

It is a chair born of classic lines; the back is rounded and recalls the shape of antique medallions, while the seat is linear and geometric. Victoria Ghost is made of clear or coloured polycarbonate, through a single-mould injection process. It is solid, comfortable, not susceptible to shock, and is weather-resistant. Once again a chair that has been made thanks to technological know-how that Kartell has gathered over the years, making the objects for which it is recognised worldwide. A highly charismatic product with a big personality, which will fit elegantly in any type of setting.

The Dr. NO armchair is a Kartell classic, now known for its perfect mix of functionality and aesthetics. Dr. NO is not susceptible to temperature changes, is stackable up to four pieces and features the comfort of an embracing chair which is elegant in its design and functionality, is easy to clean, and comes in a wide range of colours. The selection of colours is geared towards pastel shades. The formal solution, materials and practicality of use allow Dr. NO to be placed outside, and makes it an ideal choice for contract projects.

A tried and true made-at-Kartell icon, the Bubble Club sofa, in mass-coloured polyethylene has been a pioneer of a new concept in furnishing accessories. an industrial sofa made entirely of plastic. Technology and research have indeed allowed Kartell to produce an object in series which had always been handcrafted. Thanks to exceptional weather resistance, all three components of the Bubble line do perfectly outside and are ideal for furnishing a garden, poolside or terrace.

Nomen omen for the Mr. Impossible polycarbonate armchair designed by Kartell and Philippe Starck, a synthesis of the most refined design and the most advanced technology in the production of plastic materials. The chair was in fact born from the (apparently impossible) idea of combining two oval polycarbonate bodies without using glue: a new challenge to obtain an indissoluble weld joint and a truly surprising aesthetic effect, which revolutionizes the perception of the material. The two bodies, which are welded by laser, give the chair a bi-coloured and simultaneously three-dimensional look.

Once again, Starck's creative genius and Kartell's technology have given life to a revolutionary and captivating project: La Bohème is a collection of stools which recall the form of precious amphorae. There are two of them: LaBohème2 and LaBohème3, each one evoking a different icon of the vase object, and providing a delicate and precious image but also a stable and functional chair. A single exclusive technology, prepared for the first time in the design sector by Kartell, has allowed a completely transparent collection of stools to be produced, which have a remarkable aesthetic impact.
