Cafe Kureon, Toyama

Location: Toyama, Japan

Cafe Kureon in Toyama, Japan, is a 197 square metre restaurant surrounded by a field which appears to just brush against the soil. The inside dining room is glass-enclosed, while the outer structure has a perpendicular frame containing wood beams of various lengths. This particular interlaced design is enhanced by Tokujin Yoshioka’s Ami Ami chairs, which are based on a play between the warp and weft of a fabric, and whose name in Japanese literally means “to weave.”
